Alright guys, you know how rarely we use ABJD as a soapbox. We do, however, have some subjects near and dear to our heart here. Bullying is one of them. It's come to our attention that this is going on openly in the BJD hobby lately. Threats have been made against people who have done nothing wrong. Adults who should know better are acting incredibly childishly. I can't say for sure if the situation involves any of our members or not, and to be honest I don't care. Let me make something clear:

We love dolls and we love the creativity that comes from them in all forms. We more or less only accept Asian dolls because of that little "A" up there, but personally we collect and make all kinds of things.

We do not care:
- if you have a Soom or a Bobobie
- if you are pro-recast or anti-recast
- if you collect only BJDs or collect everything
- if you are 80 or 13 (younger than that what are you doing on DA?)
- if monster high dolls have balljoints or not
- if your faceup/mod is stunning or you need more practice

We do care that you treat others with respect and dignity and receive the same from them. The only thing that ~Inimicality and I can promise that this group will never supporting bullying anyone for any reason.

Totally agree.

Although, with the fifth point there: Monster High dolls (and Dollfie Dream & Obitsu dolls) have ball-shaped hinge joints. These joints are engineered to have the same appearance and aesthetic of ball joints, but are still hinge joints. It is not ~technically~ correct to refer to them as BJDs, because they don't actually have ball-and-socket joints.

I have no issue with them being grandfathered into the hobby, as they're quite similar with the customization aspect which I think is the core of the hobby. :)

Hmm... that is an interesting point, but I'd have to disagree, having owned a Dollfie, Obitsu (mind you it want the Balljoint body)and several MHs. The obitsu at least has what I would term ball joints, and so does the dollfie. The mechanism is different, but not by much. Makes me want to get my hands on an old german doll just to see.

Thank you both for that information. I just got the customize thing for the MH dolls (came with a blank doll) and I was curious as to if others would consider them ball jointed or not.

I do, in so much as I consider my Dollfie a ball-jointed doll. I do consider them a like a "little sister" or "Starter doll" for the bigger resin and vinyl BJDs. But you know that's just me.

Now I'm curious, would my MH doll be accepted into this group? I've been working on her to make her more "alive" her skin was green, i didn't like it</i>.

No, because we only accept Asian or strung resin dolls. I haven't yet found a good customizing group for MH dolls, though I haven't looked too hard yet.

Well said. It's sad to think people are being bullied over petty things like that. For a hobby like this, we should be supporting/encouraging each other, not nitpicking.

You are absolutely right. I've seen both sides of the hobby and usually when it gets drama-filled I just step out. However there are times of exception where people need to know that there are safe places and nonjudgmental people.
